GHOST SHIP OPENING
GHOST SHIP
Ghost ship uses many different camera angles and shots. There is a tracking shot at the start tracking the movement of the ship. There is also a repeated birds eye view shot of the people on the deck before and after the mayhem, There is also an over the shoulder shot before the bad guy pulls the liver killing everyone making us the audience feel with him.
The editing in ghost ship has many straight cuts. There is a slow motion effect when the people are dancing but goes fast motion during and after the man pulls the lever. The singer and girl get the most screen time and there is a circle structure linking the sea at the start and end.Â
There is bright lighting used at the start when the singer is signing and everyone is dancing. The signer is wearing red the preferred reading which we can depict is that this is romantic. But the denotation of this is the blood and violence.Â
The music at the start is romantic and happy. But there is a shift when the man pulls the lever and becomes fast paced and creepy. There is a cross cutting and offscreen when the girl screams. There is lots of digetic when she is signing and when the wire starts coming down.
